It's official. In the first week of Big Brother 8, the first to be evicted will either be Amber of Carol. If you'll recall, Amber is the single mother, self-described nympho, and Carol is the daughter of Kansas state Sen. Phil Journey (R-Haysville).
Behind the scenes, Carol is mustering a bit of backbone and seemingly has a couple of deals worked up (hat-tip: bbspoiler8.com). However, I think the general vibe is that Amber will survive this week. Not sure why. Perhaps, people think she's the better player, based on what they have seen in only one week.
My favorite so far is Eric, "America's Player." He's funny; tonight, on America's command, he drew tears as he lied to Kail about some story from his childhood, making an analogy to Daniele and her weight (lack thereof).
The house should watch out. His humor and communication abilities make him very dangerous.
I can't say that I dislike any players. Truth is, even if I couldn't stand Gonorrhea Joe, he is vital to making this summer series super interesting. He's gotta stick around for a few weeks, and his departure must be bitter. Bitter.
I'm not a big fan of Carol's rival, Jessica, although her breasts are unreal. Unfortunately, Jessica's voice makes her sound like a moron. Still, it's a bit too early to say for sure that I don't like her, although I don't think I'm too keen on her knife in the heart approach to Carol's possible dismissal. It is quite aggressive, and I think I was hoping for at least a little sympathy.
Don't like Jen. Nobody does at this point. She cried when she saw her BB photo, and she lied about Nick trying to kiss her. However, she did two things that turned me completely off: 1) Jen whined about evel Dick touching her because he's "old and gross," and 2) Jen bitched about Dick smelling like smoke. In other words, she was way too aggressive toward Dick, and her reasons weren't nearly good enough.
All the reasons why we'd hate or like a contestant at this point are probably premature. Heck, it could change in an instant, no? However, I have one clear, concise, intelligent statement to make: The houseguests are making a huge mistake if they don't unanimously vote out Amber now.
I can tell. She's a fighter, and she ain't dumb.
Not that Carol is an airhead (her senator father wrote in to a message board in response to haters who said she was an "airhead" by defending his daughter's intelligence, citing her GPA at KU, which was kind of sweet). However, I don't think Carol has the fortitude for this game. She's a wilted flower. She's got no evident fight. No real fight, and perhaps it's an indication she's too sweet.
However, she can't win, and players who can, such as Kail, Daniele, Eric and Nick, above and beyond all others, in my opinion, have to do what they can to remove Amber now because, I think, it will haunt them if they don't.
With that said, here is my first BB8 ranking, based on who I think is playing the game the best:
14. Jen - Alienating everyone.
13. Carol - Little fight.
12. Dick - Annoys some.
11. Joe - Stirs up too much.
10. Jameka - Quiet.
9. Jessica - She won't be popular in the house long-term.
8. Dustin - Has made friends pretty well.
7. Amber - Pretty tough chick.
6. Mike - Bridge builder.
5. Zach - Mike and Zach are interchangeable.
4. Eric - Funny, smart, ours.
3. Nick - Sexual ambiguity will do him well.
2. Daniele - Petite but strong. A real contender.
1. Kail - Smartest of the bunch.
At the beginning of the week, I thought sure Carol was a goner, but if what I'm reading on the boards is correct, the houseguests might be coming to their senses regarding the opportunity they have to eliminate a strong player now.
And, I still say my hunch is that no frenemy (as we'll call the three pairs of enemies) will be eliminated in the first week. Producers have too much behind-the-scenes influence on this show, I think. Just a hunch.
My guess: Amber is eliminated 6-5.
