Big Brother 8: Kail Makes Perfect HoH Play

It was tough to argue with Kail's nominations during Sunday night's episode of Big Brother 8: Amber and Carol. They were the first houseguests to fail during the mushroom-spinning contest.

It was also tough to argue with Kail's game play. She made a pair of extremely shrewd plays.

First, given that being the first Head of Household can be much more of a disadvantage than advantage, Kail was super smart to keep her choices objective, even if she admitted later that there were some subjective aspects to her strategy.

Second, Kail has aligned with Mike, Zach and Nick. If you'll recall one of my posts from Friday night, I suggested a foursome among Daniele, Carol, Zach and Mike (or possibly Nick). My thinking was that a foursome here in the first week could be pretty powerful if it contained at least two of the guys, who I spotted Night 1 as being formidable.

Well, Kail -- as first week HoH -- formed an alliance with all three guys. One of the guys even called it "Mrs. Robinson and her boys," a reference to Kail's age (almost 38) and the classic movie, "The Graduate."

I can't think of a better week, a better play than what Kail has had as HoH this week.

We know from spoiler boards that Daniele wins the Power of Veto, and I still say she should let the nominations ride. It's way too soon to be making a play, and unfortunately, I think it spells the end for Carol, which goes against my initial thinking.

Initially, I said that we probably wouldn't see the end of any of the six enemies. However, as we got to know more about Amber -- that she's a single mother, that she's kind of had a hard life -- I don't know how Carol can compete against that among the remaining houseguests unless they find Amber's sad story to be threatening.
