I've been a busy little blog beaver, building a second of what will be numerous blogs on various subjects. One of the topics I plan to be covering heavily over the next couple of years is politics, specifically presidential politics.
So, I've started misterindependent.com, which for the moment defaults to this site.
The philosophy of the site will be simple: To promote progressive thought without allegiance to party affiliation.
Sure, I consider myself progressive, which typically means I'm aligned with liberal candidates. I come from three generations of Democrat men. However, I find myself aligned with the right, including libertarians, on a number of issues such as the economy, the environment and abortion.
It's an interesting mix, which I hope reflects a combination of Teddy Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who were both very progressive albeit so different from each other politically.
The blog also reflects that I am not sure for whom I'll vote in 2008. Could be a Democrat and probably will, but it darn well could be a Republican given the situation, the issues and the choice. The hope is that what I can offer in terms of commentary not only speaks to those who also consider themselves to be independent but also to those who are tied to the rhetoric of both political parties.
