Fiesta Bowl Prediction

Oklahoma is officially depleted.

We got word this afternoon that a reaggravated deep-thigh bruise may force star WR Malcolm Kelly to the sidelines against West Virginia tonight. On top of other injuries and incidents, this one could prove to be the worst because we know what the Sooners offense does without No. 4.

Besides Kelly, we're missing DeMarcus Granger (our alleged thiever of coats), DeMarco Murray, Lendy Holmes (he of bad grades) and Reggie Smith.

The good news, in my estimation, is that Manuel Johnson has really started to come on as of late at receiver. Also, when mass injuries happen like this, it can also spur the newbies into focus because these cats are playing for spots in 2008. For many, tonight is a major, major opportunity.

Already we know about the Mountaineers' situation with Bill Stewart filling in for the departed Rich Rodriguez. Because Rodriguez called the plays from the sidelines, I think his departure could spell big trouble for Pat White and company if OU will play aggressively and show all sorts of crazy looks.

My gut hunch says OU wins a close one, not a blowout. However, there is no part of my vision -- if you will -- right now that has us losing.

Give me Sooners 26, Mountaineers 23.
