You might have noticed I haven't been blogging as much recently. Well, there's no specific reason. Just trying to make sure I don't blog 'til I drop.
That's a fascinating piece from the NY Times regarding the effect of blogging on health. Truly, it's more about the effect of work and stress on health, and I'm aware of it. Believe me, I know.

However, I got some much-needed exercise this weekend, mowing two yards in six hours, edging and picking up a mass of debris still left over from the ice storm. The effect our winter weather in 2007 had on my yard is immeasurable. It won't be the same for maybe two years.

Unfortunately, I am in the midst of figuring up my taxes, and it's not looking good. I'm inching ever-so closer to conservatism. You might not believe what I'll be paying. Unreal.
And it means I'll be cutting back big time over the next couple of weeks, for the next year, to pay off the bill.

One luxury I'll keep though is MLB.tv, supposing I can work the Silverlight kinks out. $20 a month, and I can watch as much baseball, on-demand, as I'd like. My goal for this year is to watch more Cardinals baseball.
In OKC, you get the Rangers, Cards and some Royals. However, believe it or not, we get mostly St. Louis. That's a surprise given they're six hours away, as opposed to Dallas' proximity. However, it's no surprise given their history.
The Cards are the Yankees of the National League, and I'm a baseball nerd. When I watch the Rangers, I am watching a club I'd desperately like to be good. There are a few of us diehards, but we're a desperate lot.
The masses who watch the Redbirds are all diehards, as knowledgeable about the game as Yankee and Red Sox fans, but with a Midwestern personality. So, while my goal is to watch as much baseball as possible this season, I'll focus on the Rangers AND the Cards. I'm going to try to make myself a fan of the 'Birds.

Pulling for Kansas on Monday night, although I think Memphis is just too stout. No, it's not a root-for-the-Big 12 sentiment. I find that silly. It would be like working for GM and pulling for Toyota just because they're in the auto industry or belong to the same union.
However, a couple of co-workers are diehard Jayhawks fans, and I've been to Lawrence, so I'm pulling heavily for Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk, even 20 years after they dashed Oklahoma's dream.
My guess though is that bettors should be picking the over, whatever it is. A 96-90 type of game is NOT out of the question. It should be mega-entertaining.
My god, I'm paying a ridiculous amount in taxes for 2007 too. I just wasn't thinking it'd be that much. See ya later, 40% of savings...
You are behind the times my friend. We liberals only want to spend money on the poor and underprivileged. The sound you might mistake for Niagara Falls is coming from the conservative end of the political spectrum. It is the roaring noise of money being pissed away in the Middle East. Our taxes, our kid's taxes and their kid's taxes will be high for the next century while we are digging out this conservative clusterfuck.
Conservatism with a little 'c,' which is still fundamentally about lower taxes. However, your point is duly noted, Toad.
By the way, I don't want to spend money on anybody. I want my taxes to be lower.
