New York Celebrates Super Bowl In Chaotic Style
0 Comments Ryan Welton on Tuesday, February 05, 2008 at 1:25 AM.New York's Super Bowl win is merely a day old, but if you happened to be Giants fan (or New England hater, like me) living somewhere besides the boroughs, you didn't have to go far to join in on the fun.
You go to YouTube.
First, and I just want to declare this before too many other people do. David Tyree's fourth-quarter catch was the greatest catch in Super Bowl history. It slaughters Swann's catch back in 1975, in my book. And even though Plaxico Burress eventually scored the winning touchdown, Tyree's uber-clutch play symbolizes the 2008 New York football Giants:
Yes, the 17-14 win set off a celebration, and I've watched several vids of post-game cheer. Some of these videos feature strong language, nudity, police confrontations, sanitation trucks, very drunk people and general mayhem. New York City is the greatest city in the world, but its people are half nuts. God love 'em.
Enjoy the celebratory clipfest ...

Such a civilized city, this is the celebration at 11 p.m. in Times Square.
Oh, they're not much better in Hoboken, NJ, but I love the YouTuber's description:
In honor of the cops giving a beat down (2:05) the chant turns to "defense *clap clap* defense"
Hell, this video from Union Square turned into something that could have been part of a Broadway production. What's up with the scarf-wearing guy on top of the sanitation truck, leading cheers:
I secretly hoped that the driver of this car was pissed enough to run over pedestrians, but alas, he was celebrating, too. Lots of young shirtless boys, making one think this might be a Mark Foley campaign video.
Brooklyn-ites screamed and yelled for a Channel 7 news crew and then promptly went silent as soon as the photog was done. I could not imagine having to do a live shot from, let's say, Times Square like in the previous videos.
This one comes from 34th Street and 3rd Avenue more than an hour after the game:
Some brilliant scholars in the Bronx shoot off fireworks with a mass of people around:
The smartest videographer of the evening stayed at home and shot some footage from an apartment balcony, capturing the wonderful nat sound of revelers, although I'm not sure this isn't what it sounds like every night in New York City:
