Favorite Songs

Starting a new playlist in Rhapsody for the first part of 2007, these are my favorite tunes of the new year so far. Couple of them came from 2006.

  1. "Grace Kelly" - Mika

    Wonderful song, top to bottom.

  2. "Smile" - Lily Allen

Early favorite for song of the year. It's spiteful, mean and brilliant.

  3. "You Know I'm No Good" - Amy Winehouse

She's unique, soulful, weird, drunk. Again, brilliant.

  4. "Lovelight" - Robbie Williams

I'm not sure how Williams hasn't been a bigger hit here in the U.S.

  5. "Rudebox" - Robbie Williams

  6. "Breathe (2 A.M.)" - Anna Nalick

    Still love it.

  7. "I Know" - Drake Bell

    Catchy, syrupy, tight.

  8. "Hood Boy" - Fantasia

This is a way better track than folks are giving it credit.

  9. "Breathe Me" - Sia

    It's growing on me.

  10. "Take A Chance" - The Magic Numbers

    A hidden gem.

  11. "What Goes Around ... Comes Around" - Justin Timberlake

Great rendition on Saturday's SNL repeat.

I bought the Lilly Allen CD for Tracy this weekend, (only $9.99 at Target, uncensored)and we keep sneaking off to our car or a back room to listen to it, because....well, it is uncensored and we have little kids in the house. Still, LOVE IT, LOVE IT, you MUST buy the whole thing. There is a perverted little song where she is dissing her grandma, which is SO wrong, but so well written that it is hysterical. She takes such horrible sentiments and pairs them with such lively tunes that it is genius. Do you have the CD? If so, tell me what you think of it, please.

No, I don't OWN the CD ... however, I subscribe to Rhapsody, which means I get to listen to just about any and all albums online for $9.99 per month. I've heard "Smile" and "Alfie" so far, but I need to listen to the whole thing ...
