Digital Sales Propel Mac Singer To Billboard Top 10

The music revolution will be downloaded. Period.

One great nugget of evidence supporting that is the rise of French singer Yael Naim, whose single "New Soul" debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard singles charts this week on the strength of digital sales.

Naim is of French-Jewish heritage, and she sings as if she's just taken an English-as-second-language class. It adds a charm to the song in terms of giving the listener warm fuzzies. But it's also kind of annoying and whiny.

The popularity of this song exploded after an advertisement for a MacBook Air laptop featured it. And those Mac folks are always looking for the edgy, the quirky, and God bless 'em for it.
